This week marks the beginning of a new Niece Project! Megan and I left Minnesota and headed south for Lima Peru to start our journey. As soon as we got on the plane and took off I was reminded of how much fun these trips are for me. It didn’t take long before Megan had me trying new things such as playing iphone games on the plane instead of writing! We had a few delays but made it to Lima where we were treated with perfect weather to get acquainted with the town. We muddled our way through Spanish menus trying to order, met our fellow travelers in our Intrepid Group, and saw a few of the main sites in Lima. I will never forget Megan’s fear and elation as we went into the creepy catacombs of the Monastery of San Francisco to see thousands bones and skulls from the mass burial site there.
We then hopped on another plane and started our journey into thin air – Cusco. I am writing this ‘week in review’ a bit early because as you read this we will be trekking to Machu Picchu and won’t have any internet access for a few days. We have quite a challenge ahead of us for the Quarry Trail hike as we head up to 14,760 ft, so tune in next week to see how we fared on the next Instagram review!
Fountain in Plaza Mayor. Fountain in Plaza Mayor. Had a great city orientation today with @intrepid_travel !
What is Week In-Stagram Review?
Each week brings some new scenery and location for me – that’s just the way I like it. If you want to follow where I am real time – then on Friday I will post some of my Instagram photos from the current week. Some weeks I may be traveling somewhere exotic, and some weeks it may be less interesting – but it will give you a peek into my life of perpetual motion.

Holy crapola. We missed each other in Peru by a HAIR. I’m back in Canada now, and when I return to Peru (which I will, in a few months), you’ll already have moved on I’m sure. Too bad!
Enjoy…Peru is one of my fav places in the world.

What wonderful pictures. Lima for sure is in my bucket list. I was totally unaware of the cliffs, and yes they are so beautiful.

Sounds and looks like an amazing project. There is, probably, nothing more rewording in this world than when you pick up your gear and visit such an amazing place like Peru and to capture the most beautiful sunrises or sunsets every photographer has experienced.

Amazing photos about Lima!
The Parque Grau seems such a wicked, but nice place…
And Lima has such a strong European feel…

yes – when the sun is out there it’s really lovely! However the last week I spent in Lima was gray and a bit depressing!
