As most of you know – I’m currently traveling/housesitting in Europe. This has sent my photography into overload…so instead of one photo this week – you get a set of photos from my recent trip to Kinderdijk Netherlands. Kinderdijk is a Unesco World Heritage Site thanks to it’s amazing display of windmills – over 19 of them still preserved and standing! My trip couldn’t have been complete without the transportation help of my Couch Surfing hosts in Rotterdam, Daniel and Oliver!
The day was horrendous as you can tell from the pictures – occasional rain and lots of wind! Most of the time I had my poncho on trying to keep the camera gear dry! But I like the result – I hope you do too!
You can view the complete Kinderdijk Photo Gallery and purchase photos at my Global Photography Website.
Spectacular images!! Those clouds speak volumes. Thanks so much for sharing!
I have visited Kinderdijk twice and it still beckons for another visit. 19 old windmills, all in one setting and a great place to picnic – Kinderdijk is really beautiful.
Great images Sherry . Sometimes bad weather gives you some of the best photos. I really love the first one with the bicycle and the windmill.
Gorgeous photos, Sherry! I’ve never seen Netherlands windmill photos that look like these (and that’s a good thing). Nice job!
It looks like a fairy tale! Gorgeous!
It never ceases to amaze me how the picture can convey so much with out a single word. Amazing pics. Thanks
Wow! It looks stunning, even in bad weather. Your photos are fantastic!
The last photo is my favourite – and thanks for braving the stormy day as the photos are definitely worth it.
I love the way the wind has rumpled up the grass – very atmospheric.
Sounds like the weather was just like Bristol this last week – many a wet day in August – but it does make for some interesting and moody photos – probably a bit more realistic than the typical blue sky shot
LOVE the photo with the bicycle (natch!) and the Louvre–but they are ALL spectatular! You are such an artist with that camera1!
THANKS Judy…glad you like them! They make great holiday gifts…ha! 🙂
Sherry, I’m absolutely enchanted (not to mention blown away) by these images. Fantastic!
Stuart
Thanks Stuart…blown away is the right term for that day! Thanks for following my site!
Nice photos – I particularly like the bottom one of the line of windmills – for me, the angle spices the shot up and makes it memorable.
Brilliant pictures.. makes me want to teleport myself down there!
The inclement weather you braved produced unbelievable photographs!! You have every right to be very proud of the results. One more year and I can breakaway too. And will I!
Beautiful photos! The windmills look so dramatic against the moody grey skies.
