Photo of the Week – Wadi Musa, Jordan

Jordan Baker

Making Faces...in Jordan of all places...

I’ve taken a lot of pictures of people around the world.  But this young man surprised me.  He was the first who actually had a sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to show it to the camera.  I was shocked when I looked through the lens and saw him ‘pose’ for his picture which he agreed to.  The whole bakery in Wadi Musa erupted in laughter; including myself!  This bakery in Wadi Musa was my favorite for many reasons, but this young man was one of the main reasons.  I think it says a lot about the Jordanian culture and sense of humor.

That photo brought a smile to my face! I love when people are willing to be a bit goofy!

We just left that bakery and have a bag of cakes and biscuits waiting to be sampled in Cleopetra. I’ll go back tomorrow and show him your photo. I said hello to Mosleh for you too.

Yeah!! I’m so happy you stopped by there and I’m so jealous….those sweets are amazing! Plus, happy to hear that you are at Cleopetra – hope you are enjoying it. Have you tried to play Mosleh at Backgammon yet?
That would be great if you showed the guys at the bakery the photo – they will be so surprised. Plus – I have photos of a couple of them on the Fabulous Baker Boys post I did the week before too.
Thanks and I hope you are enjoying Petra!

Only got here today but so looking forward to seeing Petra tomorrow. I can’t play backgammon (chess is my game) so I’ll be easy meat for Mosleh. I’m being very restrained and am saving the sweets for after have done a little work.

I’d marked Cleopetra in our guidebook as a place to stay but your recent post swung the decision for us. I mentioned this to Mosleh too. He’s a lovely fella.

We’re sitting in the reception at the moment with a recap of the situation in Egypt on the TV. Shame it’s on Al Jazeera and not the BBC because their Middle Eastern correspodent is staying here too and that would be a little surreel.

  3. Great to see that he had a since of humor and the whole store had a sense of humor. Nice picture great seeing people having fun.
