In a little alley you will find one of the best hummus and falafel restaurants in the Amman – Hashem. There I had the Breakfast of Kings…literally…the King has eaten there before! Plates of hummus are prepared by this stern looking man…but don’t worry – he was quite a kind soul. As I was leaving he asked if he could pose for a picture…yet I still couldn’t get him to smile!

Wow, that is a really cool huge pot on the counter! And this picture totally makes me crave some hummus right now.
MMMM! Can’t wait to check this place out when we’re there next month! Thanks!
Ohhh – I hope you do! I’ll hopefully be able to provide you some more great finds over the next few weeks…stay tuned! How long will you be in Jordan? I just got back from Petra and Feynan (Dana Reserve) and LOVED both of them so also have some advice for those areas too…
Awesome- Can’t wait to see them! We’ll only be there for 3 days (most of the trip is in Egypt) so it’s gonna be tough to squeeze a lot in. We are in Petra most of the time but if there is one thing outside of Petra you recommend let me know!
If you feel like hiking and some Bedouin cultural interaction (not the touristy kind you’ll find in Petra)- check out the Feynan Eco Lodge – http://www.feynan.com/ – It’s located in the Dana Biosphere Reserve – great hiking and super lodge. Plus – it’s a beautiful drive from Petra to there. Let me know if I can be of any help. Also had a great budget hotel in Petra if you are interested!
I can almost smell your breakfast. This photo captures life in Amman.
I love the dude in the background who most definitely did NOT want his pic taken…
and mmmm, hummus. Delish!
You are right about the guy in the background – but the hummus guy loved having his photo taken and I didn’t even notice the guy in the background until I saw the photo on the laptop!
This looks delicious!
This is a great photo. I love this kind of environmental portraits. They do tell a story of a person being photograped.
Wow, Feynan Ecolodge looks gorgeous. Thanks for the tip, Sherry, and the mouthwatering photo of your breakfast.
I’ve eaten here too. Delicious and cheap! Friendly staff…they always welcome you back.
I’m new to Amman and would love to know where this is. Great picture!
It was at a well known hummus and felafel restaurant called Hashem in downtown. Ask anyone where it is and they’ll point you in the right direction!
