Halfway to Ella rock, a vision of green
Welcome to Hill Country in Sri Lanka. It certainly lives up to it’s name. The hike to Ella Rock is a challenging 3 hour hike known for it’s phenomenal views of the valley below. The small town of Ella is nestled in Hill Country and is the hiking mecca for tourists looking to get some fresh mountain air.

Whoa gorgeous! I even thought I saw a fairy. lol I guess it was just a few statues.
I tried mountain hiking when I was a teenager and luckily I was able to reach the top but I almost lost my breath.

Hi – picked up on your site. Just wondered if that was the only trail you took to Ella Rock or if there were others. Also was there a name for the route you took.
I am going to Sri Lanka in the next two weeks.

It’s the only trail I was aware of to Ella Rock. We left from our guesthouse, Waterfalls guest house (which was awesome), and they told us how to catch the trail. I don’t believe there were any special names for routes. We got sort of lost and followed a local guy through some of the tea fields and he ensured we found our way.
