Week In-stagram Review Northern Ireland and Beyond

November 6, 2014 3 Comments »

This week I covered a decent amount of ground with by car, bus, foot, and plane.  I started the week in Northern Ireland on a fabulous day for photography.  I took a Viator Tour that took me to Northern Ireland where I got to experience the stunning coastal sunsets, a harrowing walk on a rope bridge, and the unique rock formations of Giants Causeway.  In addition, it included a Black Taxi tour around Belfast – an eye opening and disturbing look at the city’s history and how they are moving forward.  And of course while in Northern Ireland I had to have some Bushmills Whiskey while at the Bushmills Inn.  The perfect way to get warm from a chilly day outside – a roaring fire and whiskey!

I then headed back to the Republic of Ireland and had a wee bit of time in Dublin walking around and taking part in Halloween activities.  But sadly my month in Ireland came to an end this week.  I found it hard to leave as I had grown quite attached to the country – and the smoked salmon and Guinness.  But I had to move on to another great beer country – Belgium.

This week I’m in Belgium laying low – trying to catch up on work, see friends, and also get a healthy dose of my favorite food and beers in Brussels.  I had a waffle as soon as I got off the train from the airport of course.  So – 3 countries this week – I call that a good week!

The ‘blue lagoon’ in Ireland – beautiful dusk on the coast.

Giants Causeway Northern Ireland

A beautiful sunset at Giants Causeway. Seeing Northern Ireland w @viatortravel today!

Carick-A-Rede Rope Bridge

The Carick-A-Rede Rope Bridge hanging 100 ft above the crashing sea – it was more than a little wobbly! Fishermen erected the bridge so they could check their salmon nets. The original bridge had only a single handrope!

Northern Ireland coast

Northern Ireland’s coastal landscapes are stunning and also colorful when the sun decides to shine! This was the path out to the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Even if you wuss out and don’t go on the bridge dangling bove the cliffs, you still get these views!

Giants Causeway Northern Ireland

The rock cylinders of Giants Causeway – so much fun to climb on!

Clonard church Belfast Northern Ireland

Clonard church and monastery where secret peace talks took place in Belfast. And one of the few buildings not destroyed in the neighborhood.

Bushmills inn

When in @BushmillsInn …well – need I say more?

Dusk over Brussels and I have rooftop view.  I love staying with friends who have excellent views!

What is Week In-Stagram Review?

Each week brings some new scenery and location for me – that’s just the way I like it. If you want to follow where I am real time – then on Friday I will post some of my Instagram photos from the current week. Some weeks I may be traveling somewhere exotic, and some weeks it may be less interesting – but it will give you a peek into my life of perpetual motion.
