I’m coming to you from 30,000 feet for this update! I spent the last month slowing down and enjoying the holidays in the Midwest with family and now I’m headed to back to NYC for 10 days to the bustle of the city. I hit the ground running this weekend by speaking at the New York Time Travel Show this Sunday. If you are around NYC this weekend – consider getting a ticket for the show and get TONS of travel inspiration for 2016. Plus – you can come see me speak on Sunday at 3:45 about Solo Travel . Or if you happen to be there Saturday, I’ll be at the ‘Expert Table’ in the main exhibition hall at 2PM also answering questions about travel and solo travel specifics. Come by and say hello!
I will also be taking a couple of days to continue to dig into this idea of tiny house living. I’m currently looking around the Hudson River Valley area to see if there are any great spots to make my tiny house dream come true. I’ve been fantasizing more and more about getting a home base, being able to hang up my clothes, and have a little stability in my life after 10 years – and I love the idea of a tiny house as a little writing haven.
My last month was a pretty quiet time – and boy did I need that. I had a lot of time to try to tie up some lose ends with business, taxes, and writing. One of the hardest things about being on the road all the time is that you have limited time to get to the day-to-day tasks. I spent time working on getting a few new freelance gigs, get back to running, making plans for my initial 2016 travels, freaking out about what I’m going to do with my life, and it wouldn’t be a trip home if I didn’t shed some more tears over my lack of good insurance choices (being nomadic is a hindrance sometimes).
In fact my month was so quiet that I barely got out my camera! However it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. Here’s some of my quality Midwest Instagrams from the last month in South Dakota and Minnesota. Most are nature related as I’m still really drawn to the beauty and simplicity of the landscape around eastern South Dakota, as well as the Midwest weather. We had a little of everything low sun across the Great Plains, rain, snow, and even a rainbow! Hope your holidays were great and I hope to see some of you at the New York Times Travel Show on Sunday!
