Each week brings some new scenery and location for me – that’s just the way I like it. If you want to follow where I am real time – then on Friday I will post some of my Instagram photos from the current week. Some weeks I may be traveling somewhere exotic, and some weeks it may be less interesting – but it will give you a peek into my life of perpetual motion.
I enjoyed my last week in Kauai to the fullest – by hiking! There are so many great trails in Kauai – but with all of the recent rain I really had to pick and choose carefully as the state of the trails were pretty grim. But thanks to the help of a few new local friends I met on the island – they directed me to some safe ones AND they also helped me with my photography! The owners from Kauai Adventure Photography Workshops took me out into the dense Kauai trails and caves to get some amazing shots. We mainly focused on DSLR photography, but we also did work on phone photography too. Patrick even introduced me to a great photo editing app for the Android – SnapSeed (Android version & iTunes version). I’m loving it and using it now on my Instagram shots!
Sadly this week my 4 weeks in Hawaii came to an end and I flew back to NYC and was greeted by snow. I’m having a real hard time adjusting to the change and am missing the Garden Isle and my muddy hiking terribly. But never fear – I’m not in NYC for long and soon will be heading to warmer climates again for more adventure and more Instagram photos. But until then – enjoy some of my Instagram shots of the Kauai hiking I did this week!
Got a little muddy today but was totally worth it. Hiking out to a waterfall photo shoot on Hoopii Trail with Kauai Adventure Photography!
Me photographing Hoopii Falls. The hike was a bit messy to get there but worth it. We hiked it back in the dark!
Nounou Mountain Trail East (Sleeping Giant Trail). Loved these super tall pine trees on our hike. They utilized them to make masts for sailing ships yrs ago. I adore how Hawaii surprises me all the time with unexpected terrain like this!

The Hawaiian pine trees look very different from our pine trees in northern California. Fun hike! Fun pics! What a trip!

Nancy – I was amazed at the variety of trees in Kauai! And not many palm trees it seemed – but maybe that’s because I spent more time hiking than on the beach!

I bought a hiking trail book from Borders for Kauai when they were going out of business. I would love to use it and hike explore Hawaii! Your pictures are tempting me to go soon!

While I didn’t get to do any hiking when I went to Kauai, I did get to see the Napali Coast Line, making it my favorite island out of all the ones I visited. I love using snapseed! It really makes it easy for editing photos from your phone.
