“I wish I could do that.” A phrase I have heard often regarding people’s reaction to me quitting my career of 14 years to go travel around the world on a mini-retirement. Normally this phrase is followed by “but…I have a family/house/pet/no money/insert dream killing word here…”
This ‘wish’ is the sole reason we created Briefcase to Backpack and started the concept of Meet, Plan, Go! We know taking a career break isn’t rocket science, we know the biggest hurdle is you and the ones that you put in front of yourself. Many people have overcome these hurdles. Meet, Plan, Go! intends to strip those away – or at the very least make the hurdles much, much smaller for you.
Sometimes when you have ambitious ideas, you feel like you are alone on an island. I know I did when I was planning my career break in 2006. However all of our Meet Plan Go hosts will join you on your island on September 14th – making you a ‘tribe’ of career breakers! By making connections and learning more from people who have accomplished their goal, you will be inspired and get some tools to make it happen yourself. So I hope you consider joining our little Career Break tribe on September 14th and start to connect your dreams to reality!
You can find more information on Meet, Plan, Go! at our website and in our newsletter where we provide updates on locations, sponsors, and travel give-aways.

Dear Readers,
My entire blog is dedicated to showing skilled professionals with marketing skills how they can take a short-term working vacation. My wife and I have lived and worked abroad 15 times, from Australia to Zimbabwe, Mauritius to Mongolia, Turkey to Tibet, never once reaching into my wallet and never once giving up my day job. I am blogging to show others how they can do the exact same thing. You don’t have to quit your job, sell your home, and kiss the family good-bye to live and work overseas for periods ranging from one month to one year. I invite you to check it out.
I sure wish I was going to be in the U.S. on September 14th so I could be a part of Meet Plan Go – but I’ll be with you in spirit.
I really wish you were here too…you’d be perfect to host! We did find two great hosts for Atlanta though – so we are excited about that! Can’t wait to see you soon!
