I was there in 2001 and atlast i’m back after 10 years. yes , it’s still the best place…….incomparable………… I’m an ifugao and i’m very proud of Batad.

Filipino visitors going back to the Phils. – this should be included in your itinerary . Different from going to the beaches- your teenager kids will like it to. Don’t dread the 9 hour bus ride, it is really worth it. Visited this March 2011, my husband and I were the only Filipinos there . The rest are from Europe and other foreign countries. Im amazed at places they have been- Bontoc , Sagada , Batad Palawan. My kababayan – you are missing a lot if you havent’ been to this places.

I agree – the hiking in the Philippines was quite a find…as everyone normally goes to the beaches. I felt like I was all alone up there…perfect!

We flipped a coin when deciding to visit Banaue and Batad. After a sketchy night bus we were pleasantly surprised, it ended up being one of our fav places in the Philippines. So peaceful and beautiful – a great alternative to the beach life!

I really organized it once I arrived in Banaue. I had contacted Marcel via email before I arrived, but we didn’t organize anything until I met him in person. I actually arrived and looked around for tour info on my own and then decided that I would use Marcel. I guess I just wanted to do my due diligence first. Marcel then hooked me up with Nora, my guide. I have been in touch with each of them since and I would recommend them – I had a very good experience. However, if you want to just go there on the bus to Banaue and arrange from there – it is quite easy to do. There’s a tourist office in the center of town and from there you can hire guides and get tons of info and leave that day on a trek.
