Katie – thanks for stopping by the site! I will absolutly check out that book – as it will also be good research to me as I am looking into also trying to write a book – however mine will be more of a how-to book I think. Maybe that will be the push that you need to pack up and go yourself…it’s actually very easy to do! I hope you enjoyed Hawaii – a place I’ve never been to – believe it or not!

Hi Sherry,
I listened to the podcast on my way home from Hawaii this week and as you mentioned traveling to India I thought of a book you might be interested in. It is “East Towards Dawn: A Woman’s Solo Journey Around the World” (I did not remember the actual title, I had to look it up on Amazon!) I picked this up on one of my solo “weekends” a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It didn’t quite get me to pack everything up and go, I’m still working on the solo vacation…
Loving the sight and can’t wait to see more!

Hi Sara – to answer your question about how I download the podcasts…well – it’s not always easy! First – you have to find a good internet connection on the road. Once you find that, then I just ask if I can plug in my laptop (which I carry with me while traveling) at the internet cafe and then I can simply download through Itunes. A 30 minute show takes about 30 minutes to download though…so I let it just run in the background while I work on other things online.

The other thing I did was load up on a bunch of podcasts before I left home – that way if you don’t have your laptop with you, then you can just listen to whatever you have on your ipod. I spent a day just loading up podcasts on my ipod before leaving! They are generally small – so they don’t take up a ton of space.

Hi Iann – I’m glad you liked the interview! I was very excited to share my experiences with people – especially since I listen to that show all the time!

The travel tour company that I mentioned was Intrepid Travel. They are based out of Australia and they run some great, culturally interesting trips. I always chose the ‘Basix’ trips types as they were more like backpacking and provided me with the freedom I wanted in each location – but the security of traveling with a group.

I just listened over my lunch – congrats! What I need to do is save up enough $ to do that too. I enjoy solo travel too and 3 weeks at a time is not enough. And that’s a ton at once for an American! (Next one – Guatemala!) I’ll have to go back and read about the rat eatin’! haha My thai hilltribe didn’t offer that one to me!

How do you download those podcasts at internet cafes? Or do you carry a laptop with you and just use the internet place’s connection?
