I wish I were that precise about my packing. I always end up with a ton of socks but too little of some essential like a jacket in the cold winter of Europe.

I think it’s so cool your dad and you were able to take this trip. My parents wouldn’t be so adventurous!

Sherry, I’m so glad you had this adventure with your dad. Cherish it because you never know what’s in store for any of us. A year and a half ago I took my mom to the Sante Fe Opera for her 80th birthday (no treking for her!) and I’m so glad we did…this fall she’s been very ill and trips like that are probably a thing of the past.

I’m so glad your parents are visiting you! Even though my dad is getting up there in age, I love to hike with him. He’s one of my fave road trip buddies. Even if we do go a bit slower sometimes, knowing that we’re spending the time together makes it worth it.

I found this post very funny. I am sure your trip was wonderful but there is always bound to be some downs with the ups.
Thanks for the newer currency tip. I had no idea and since I am planning S. America fo 2010, it is good that I now know this very important details. I love your blog as it is chockablock full of invaluable details that only a ATW traveler to share with readers. Thanks!
