Sometimes a little luck is involved in photography. This week I’m traveling through the American Southwest to photograph some of the main sites with a friend; Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Zion, and Bryce to name a few. As we were logging miles between the Grand Canyon and Page Arizona, I was online checking google maps and came across a photo of Horseshoe bend. I had seen images of it before, and I had always wanted to see it and photograph it. I had no idea it was only 4 miles outside of Page, Arizona. We made a quick detour in our plans and luckily hit Horseshoe Bend in the best time of the day. A little luck can go a long way! It was a 1/4 mile hike to the overlook and it was worth all the sweat during midday sun when I saw the color of the river below….emerald green! Lucky!
It will take me a while to edit all of my photos from my current trip…but I think it will be worth it when you see all the photos of this recent road trip!
In the meantime, if you want to see more photography this Friday – check out Photo Friday at Briefcase to Backpack!

Lovely pic..I would love to go hiking in Arizona.
Super cool Arizona photo!
The rich reds of the Arizona Desert continue to mesmerise. I can’t wait to see your full set of photos.
Thanks Mark! I have hundreds of photos to get through and edit – but you’ll def. see them!!
Really nice, and good time of day for it!
Great photo, Sherry, but you didn’t tell your readers that you had to stretch prone on your belly and lean over the edge to take that shot. I know because I’ve been there and done that
.
True Donna! It was really windy that day too – so I scooched out there on my belly quite slowly!
Incredible, it’s almost like you had to be flying to capture this shot!
Well…I was hanging over the edge lying on my belly to get that shot!
Awesome shot! Is it my 50+ eyesight, or are there boaters making laps of the giant hoo doo? (I have been waiting to bandy about that term since learning it while in AZ earlier this year!) Cheers, Meg
Wow – that is good eye sight – yes – there are boaters down there in that beautiful water!
what a gorgeous shot!
