Fresh Meat!
I recently made a trip to a local market to purchase and eat durian for the first time. While I was there, I was able to capture some photos of butchers of the market.
A big teddy bear with a knife!
I love this mixture of personalities, ages, and genders! They were all working in the same market and all selling meat. For those of you who are grossed out by the fact that the meat is sitting out in the open all day – don’t be. That meat is usually sold out everyday as the locals buy their meat needs daily – so it’s always fresh unlike out Western grocery store chains! So – before you judge, consider that this way to sell meat may be even better!

It’s hard to find steaks in these markets.
Great photos and well said about not judging. In the West, we all get upset with other countries killing their food. But what do we think we are doing here? Animals in places like Vietnam probably have a better standard of living while they are alive, at least they aren’t sitting in tiny cramped enclosures not seeing the light of day until they are shipped to the slaughter house. There is far less waste in these markets. Meat doesn’t expire and get tossed away and their isn’t a gluttony of consumerism.
