Gables in the Sky
To celebrate the announcement this week that Amsterdam’s Canal District was added to the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site list – I bring you Amsterdam.
The homes along the ring canals of Amsterdam are infamous. The 17th century residences of wealthy merchants, financiers, craftsmen, doctors, lawyers, politicians and artists are characterized by big narrow windows, and decorative gable tops. My sunny days were few and far between in Amsterdam, however when the sun did come out and the skies cleared to show how briliant blue they could be, I ran outside with my camera!

I love your Dutch phot series. The gables on the narrow Amsterdam buildings are so expressive and you’ve had such great weather. Your eye seeks out the most wonderful angles and views of this expressive city and country.
I love how such a big city has managed to maintain a small town look and feel.
I love that picture! I hear Amsterdam is a nice place to visit; perhaps I’ll make it there one day.
I’ll be taking my first trip abroad in November (going to France for a week, by myself) and am very excited. I would actually love to do more traveling, make some changes in my life and, to top it all off, am in the middle of a pre-midlife crisis, so finding this blog is very timely.
