Venice thinks that it has the corner on the market when it comes to pigeons, but don’t discount Kathmandu’s pigeon population! They were everywhere, intermingled with each other, people, and of course the holy cows!

Neat idea! The second picture is so unique.
Thanks! I used the telephoto lens to capture that one. There were so many birds flying at once and moving that it was a bit difficult to capture just one!
Nice technique and great eye! Maybe call it “Cow meditates among chaos”?
Great name! I haven’t named it yet on my photography site…may have to use it!
Great pigeon photos! Never realized that pigeon could look this great in photo
I like the second photo the most, it looks like almost hit the photographer! I have picture of cockatoo flew toward me like that, and I was pretty sure it was going to hit me, which I didn’t mind for the sake of getting good shot
But the cockatoo decided to perch on a fence top, a half meter from me, instead!
Wow! The pigeon landing is gorgeous Sherry. We didn’t see that many pigeons in Kathmandu. Maybe it is still too early in the season. March/April. Haha, I do like the name…Cow meditates among Chaos. Cows can relax in any situation can’t they?
Like Venice, the pigeons are photographed so oblivious to the superb and historic buildings around them. The one with the cows is a true treasure.
Thanks Mark! I could have stood and watched the pigeons and cows for hours. What was really cool was to see how the people interacted with the cows. Local women would walk thru the pigeons to get to the cows and give the cows pea pods…as if they were pets.
OMG! The coming in for a landing shot is absolutely amazing.
Looks like those two cows are trying to blend in. I think they’re cover is blown though.
OMG – I LOVE THESE. I had no idea those nasty pigeons could be so photogenic.
ha! True – pigeons are pretty nasty!
love your pictures, they are all truely amazing…
