Itinerary Update Volume IV

beach balls

Welcome to my 4th installment of my ever-changing itinerary! I’ve made it through the sweltering summer months in Italy, Morocco, Egypt and India. I’d like to say that my body has adjusted to the heat, but I still sweat like a westerner! Strangely enough, after spending the summer in warm places, I have no tan to show for it. There is such a thing as too hot for the beach!

I have planned my fall travel for the next 3 months. This includes a lot of travel with family and time back in Asia. I have a desire to be back in the States for the Holidays – so I guess that means that this adventure will have to come to an end sometime in December – however I can’t really think about that right now as I will start hyperventilate and panic.

Looking forward into September, October, and November:
September 24th – Oct. 2nd -Laos (via Bangkok) travel with professional photographer for personal photography training!
Oct. 3 – 5 – back in Singapore (my parents arrive from the States)
Oct. 6 – 11 – Lankawi, Malaysia travel with my mother, father, and sister’s family
Oct. 12 – 13 – Singapore
Oct. 13 – 21 – Northern China (Beijing, Great Wall trekking, Xian) with my father
Oct. 22 – 30 – Singapore
Oct. 30 – Nov. 13 – Southern China/Hong Kong (Kunming, hike the Tiger Leaping Gorge, Shangra-la) with my sister
Nov. 14 – back in Singapore
Come home…???????

If you find yourself in any of these locations when I’m there – please drop me a line and we can meet up! Or if you simply have any tips for these countries – drop me a line!

    hi Sherry,
i’m listening to your adventures on podcast. i downloaded it specifically because it was about solo traveling as a woman. it seems that we are similar. i traveled for the first time alone just two years ago (at 32yo) to Thailand before relocating temporarily to my parents’ motherland, S. Korea.

i’m about to do it again, and wah – what a surprise when i checked out your blog that your revised itinerary is not so far from my own! i’m flying into Beijing on October 10th and flying out of Hong Kong on November 8th. loose ideas of what’s in between – just heading slowly south over 4 weeks,

if it works out, we might travel a bit together! i hope your next couple months are good… :)

You’ll be heading home just about the time I’m heading over to SE Asia. I’ll be leaving 29 Nov passing through London. The daughter of the friends that I went to Thailand with in January will join me for the flight to Bangkok where I’ll spend the first few days acclimatizing her to Thailand (21, first time in Asia and first trip without parents). I’ll then head down to Ko Tao to finish up an Open Water scuba certification. Mid-December I’ll fly to Hanoi to catch the Intrepid Vietnam Basix trip which will end 6 Jan. From there I will fly to Phuket joining up with my friends from London who will have arrived in Thailand on 26 Dec and spent their time in Chiang Mai. After spending a week with them we will go to wherever their daughter will be doing a divers instructors course and go diving for a few days. That should take me to mid Jan.
Not sure what I’ll be doing after that. Might head down to Malaysia and Singapore and maybe Borneo, depends on money and time. I also want to fit in Angkor Wat somewhere in there. A friend may come and join me for the last two weeks that I am there. I will leave Thailand around the 28th of Feb stopping in London to visit with my friends (they will be coming back from Thailand mid Jan, just a three week trip for them) over the week end returning to Montreal the first week of March.
Things are slowly falling into place. Had my first series of vaccinations last week, getting visa stuff figured out. Just waiting on the friend who might come the last two weeks I’ll be there to commit to going before I book tickets because she indicated that she would like to travel back with me (she has relatives in London so that would work).
So, hopefully I’ll have the tickets booked by the end of the week then I’ll book the Intrepid trip.
    Can’t wait ;-)

Hi Sherry, nrnrI have asked for the first week of November off work, but will not know until the 15th October if I have been granted it- my plan was to visit Lijiang and trek the TLG. I also wanted to get up to the Lugu Lake area, mainly to visit the Mosuo minority village- a matriarchal society! nrnrI know it’s a bit of a way off yet but if you don’t mind me tagging along could you let me know what your itinerary is going to be, if we were able to meet up it would be great to have some travel companions. nrnrI look forward to hearing from younrnrBest Wishes nrRebekah
