Four weeks in Istanbul means a lot of photos! Here are some of my favorite more obscure shots from some familiar and not-so-familiar parts of the city. When I can travel slowly and have the time to really live
in a city – I enjoy getting out and seeing the local life outside of the tourist attractions. I was lucky enough to meet locals who were eager to show me their city beyond the Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, Basilica Cistern, and Hagia Sophia. Thanks to my new local friends I was able to experience beautiful sunsets and sunrises, try new foods, and really get to know my way around Istanbul with my camera.
There are so many great Istanbul Neighborhoods to choose from, where do you start? Read this article to find out.

Really love all of the images, but the one with the evil eyes, and the kids in Beyoglu speak to me most. I’ll be in Istanbul again in like 2 weeks – so excited!

Tjat “evil eye” is misnamed. That is the eye of Allah and its used to ward off the evil eye or bad luck.

There’s whole lot more to see, so you’re all welcome to my charming city Istanbul 🙂 just a little correction though, it’s neither evil’s nor God’s eye. It is believed that some blue eyes (especially when dark and deep) may carry negative energy and bring poor luck. These glass made stones are believed to balance the negative energy to protect the one wearing or keeping them on or around.
Photos are great by the way 🙂
