Week In-Stagram Review Fort Kochi

7 Comments 04 April 2014

Each week brings some new scenery and location for me – that’s just the way I like it. If you want to follow where I am real time – then on Friday I will post some of my Instagram photos from the current week. Some weeks I may be traveling somewhere exotic, and some weeks it may be less interesting – but it will give you a peek into my life of perpetual motion.

This week I was in Fort Kochi India in the state of Kerala.  This is the southern tip of India, and it is HOT here.  This is our stating point for the Rickshaw Run , but before we were going to set out on this crazy adventure, we had to prepare from a work standpoint and get our digital nomadic lives in order.   ‘Getting in order’ means a semi-comfortable cheap room, air conditioning, an easy walk to food, and internet connectivity.  We luckily found about 3 out of 4 of those things in the Raintree Lodge in Fort Kochi.  We were able to negotiate a longer term stay deal with the owner, use of his other hotel’s swimming pool, and morning breakfast for a pretty reasonable rate.

When I’m in ‘get in order’ mode I must admit – my life is pretty boring.  I spend hours in front of a computer – I mean HOURS.  I barely eat and do anything.  But Charlie and I did manage to get out in the morning and evening to eat and walk around when it wasn’t so hot.  Here’s a few of the Fort Kochi sights that we caught on on way walking to and from breakfast, dinner and swimming.  Else – you found us inside under the AC working.  Sometimes being a travel blogger means knowing when you have to forgo seeing sights and simply get the work done.  Internet has been infuriating – but it’s all part of travel in India and our expectations and definitions of what ‘good’ internet is are changing to ‘India good’ – a lower class of good that you learn to accept.

At the end of this week though we are winding down with work and gearing up (literally) for starting our Rickshaw Run.  We got our first glimpses of our beautiful little rickshaw.  Next week you’ll be seeing our Instagram pics from the Rickshaw Run!

Even on my short sojourns outside I was able to get some great pics as I walked around town with my phone. I often use filters and phone editing programs and I recently came across this helpful article about using filters on Instagram to get more out of your photos.  A nice resource for my Instagram Fort Kochi India images!

Santa Cruz Basilica Fort Kochin

The Santa Cruz Basilica is one of many Christian churches in the Fort Kochi area in India . It looked as if the heavens were about to open up above it and provide us some.much needed relief from the heat.

Brilliant Portuguese architecture. Nice place to chill and roam around. Shops, restaurants, churches. Close to the beach as well.

Hi interesting pictures. Please let me know where the very exotic icebreaker was available. Will try it on my next visit.

  7. Pretty photos! They all have an artsy feel. Cardamom and cinnamon ice cream sounds delicious, especially with it being summer now!
