A Glacier in New Zealand is the closest I came to Antarctica...until now!

An Antarctica cruise line provider is putting on a blogging contest that caught my eye and tugged at my travel heartstrings!  A free trip to Antarctica  for me and a friend if I win.  All you have to do is vote for me, and tell all of your friends to vote for me, and have them tell all of their friends to vote for me…and maybe, just maybe, I might end up in Antarctica!  Now, I don’t think I ask for too much from my readers, I just hope that you enjoy what I write and post.  However, now I need something from you…your votes!

Here’s my entry I submitted – please go to this link and vote for me!  You have to register – but it’s totally simple and will take 3 minutes!
Quark Expeditions Blog Contest

I’m an American living in Vietnam. I’m a blogger, an auntie, a chronic singleton, an amateur photographer, a martini lover, a former IT executive turned English teacher, a world traveler, a twitter addict, and I turn 40 in February 2010. Do you think they have martinis on the ship to celebrate my birthday among penguins, ice caps, and polar bears? Help me find out!

I quit my job and left corporate America behind 3 years ago in search of adventure. I’ve been traveling, living, blogging, and photographing around the world ever since. However, I’m not one of those seasoned travelers – this is all new to me. I got my first passport when I was 30 years old and my eyes were opened to the world. I want to share the world I see with others, which is why I blog and do photography. I don’t make money at it; I do it for the love of it.

Who would I take with me – that’s easy – my Dad. I think he’s the one person that would appreciate a trip to Antarctica more than me. He’s 73 years old and once traveled around the world on a freighter. Adventurous travel is in my genes!

I just renewed my passport this month for the first time. I would love to lose its virginity to an Antarctica passport stamp this February! Please send a middle age nomad and an old man to Antarctica! You’ll be able to be a part of it too as I share the experience with you – hell, I’ll even send you a post card and save you a piece of birthday cake if the penguins don’t eat it all!

Someday is a disease that you will take to the grave with you – so vote for me today!

Hi I just found your blog via escape from Corp America. You are my hero!

I quit banking 2 years ago to go traveling. It was to be just for 1 year but here I am still traveling. Considering reentering the rat race soon though :-(

Ah – I feel so lucky – you are the first Shrek to comment on Ottsworld! I saw your blog – very nice – great travels! I see that you’ve already been to my town in Vietnam…hope it was kind to you.
Just remember – if you go back to the rat race, it doesn’t mean that you have to stay!

    Sherry,
I hope you and your Dad will win the trip and celebrate your 40th. on board ship. God willing I will celebrate my 70th. on board a round the world freighter on March 29. I could be in Vietnam. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

    Gail

Thanks Gail! Unfortunately I didn’t win – but I made a valiant effort! Your freighter trip sounds great! All the way around the world – WOW! My parents only did to New Zealand and back and that took 2 months! Good luck!
