Uh oh! Sounds like a really dangerous place to live close to. Good thing you're only there temporarily!

You had me at beer ...

I'm looking forward to trying the local beer in every country I visit. In the mean time, Harpoon is a solid option.

Several years ago we went to the Leinenkugel Brewery in Wisconsin. Good fun and good beer. Wish I had a list of all the different beers I have had. Starting with my dad's home-brew in the 1940s, in the service, travel in other countries, etc. Some tasted better than others, but if it is cold it is all good. And yes, I still like the cheap beers!!!

I used to travel to Boston regularly with work and loved some of the boutique breweries in the area. Harpoon sound especially good with their attitude, sense of fun and what sounds like great tasting beer. Great article.

Love beer! Will be putting this on my travel list. I became a die hard Coors fan (sad I know) after doing their brewery tour in Denver. You got 3 full pints of beer or was it 2- not sure after drinking in such high altitudes we felt it. What was cool about it is they have the long tour or the short tour. The short tour takes you straight to the taste testing bar while the long takes you on the tour. And its all for free!! The workers told us they know the locals from the tourists as the locals always take the short tour. It's in a student area, so you can imagine!

I love the Harpoon Brewery tour. I've been to several around the US and the world and this is one of my favorites. There is also a great seafood restaurant on the water not too far away - The Barking Crab. A nice way to follow up a visit to Harpoon.

Looks like you had a great time! Amy and I will have to check it out soon. Next time you're back in New England let us know, there are some great micro breweries up in Maine and Vermont. We'd be happy to show you around :-)
