Sherry,

Great post. Every time I read one of your stories it always brings me back to like you said the craziness of Vietnam. This time when I read your post I remembered when I had to go visit the doctor because I had these big red bumps on my legs from eating sea food outside the city, specifically Mui Ne.

AND when I went to go visit my friend who had just had a baby. I remember going to my niece's birth here in America and then I remember how the room was in Vietnam for new born babies... It was a small narrow room with 3 bed with 3 separate mothers and new born babies. No air conditioning, no privacy, and just basically unreal. If wouldn't have experienced that for myself, I would have never believed it if someone had told me.

You bring me back great memories. Thanks.

Wow! Hopefully I will not have to be in a hospital while abroad, but if so, I will be well prepared. :)

Ba - yes that's Cho Ray Hospital - I've been told that it's one of the largest in HCMC. Is your uncle perhaps the ear doctor I went to see?! He spoke great English! :)

Hey Sherry, interesting post. I haven't yet been to a local hospital, but I have been to FV. Medical techology is, ahem, not so advanced in Vietnam to say the least.

I know a guy in Hanoi who went to medical school in the 1990s. He said his whole class had to share a few old French and Russian textbooks, plus they had no equipment and never got to practice on anyone or anything. My advice is NEVER go to a Vietnamese doctor.
