Yes! I think my favorite was the Santa (full santa suit and beard) I saw riding a motorbike to District 2. It seemed to completely capture the spirit here in this motorbike crazed town! Looking forward to Tet!

Baby Jesuses in sequined play suits, fake snow machines on Le Lai, tinfoil everywhere making cribs and covering the front of coffee shops, santa hats on top of motorcycle helmets, random Santas roaming the aisles of supermarkets. I stayed here for Merry Christmas and also for Happy New Year. Wait to you see what they do to Nguyen Hue for Tet.

Dear Sherry,

I hope you had a happy Christmas even though it wasn't like most Christmases you have ever had before.

There are similarities and differences between HCMC and HK at Christmas. Its also mainly a party here and not a religious holiday. Lots of lights and decorations. The malls have Santa too, but he is imported! In fact the nationality of the Santa at Pacific Place was reported in the newspaper, since the expats all anxiously want to make sure Santa is Caucasian and therefore "real". Ha.

We went on a Christmas Day hike today and the minibus driver wore a Santa hat. After admonishing us to hurry up and sit down (it was a red minibus, they don't fool around) he wished us a Melly Chlistmas...

Hugs, Lynn
