As I mentioned in my Holiday Recap video I visited 10 different countries in 2012 so I decided to end the year with one of my best photos from each country. It was really hard to choose as I have probably taken about 8,700 photos this year. This year I also added some new photo equipment to my bag -a new SLR camera, a couple of new lenses, a tripod, and a new smartphone. Yes – it’s heavy to carry, but totally worth it and overall much lighter than filling a backpack with souvenirs.
An island full of history and spectacular vistas.
My first gondola ride yielded not only a ride but a serenade and a kiss.
Vienna seemed to have a golden glow everywhere I went.
One of my favorite tours I took in Berlin was to photograph abandoned buildings. It was completely off the tourist track and into the depths of the remains of Eastern Germany.
I was in Paris for the marathon, but of course I had to get my museum fix in.
The fog along the Camino trail is magical and it was super for temps down for walking!
One of the most spectacular mornings of my year. Being a part of a sky filled with balloons is definitely a unique experience.
The chance to experience a different side of Hawaii full of bumps and red dirt – yeehaw!
Devil’s Throat lives up to it’s name. It’s thunderous, powerful, and scary.
This shot was from one of my most memorable nights on the ship. I saw the sun disappear behind the horizon briefly for a few hours from midnight to about 3AM – and then it rose again. A magical experience to be in Antarctica on these white nights.

There’s something so atmospheric about those hot air balloons – it was one of my parents’ favourite experiences when they were in Cappadocia
Just gorgeous photos, Sherry. Loved that Berlin shot and after seeing that sunrise, I may need to reconsider an Antartica trip! Here’s to an equally travel-ful 2013.
Every single pic is awesome….All the best for 2013
Very good and varied collection, highly enjoyable! I do have a fave, though – it must be the one with the hot air balloons in Turkey! Awesome!
Beautiful shots! My favourites are Cappadocia and the fog of the El Camino. What an awesome year you had!
I love the image of the clock at the Musee D’Orsay in Paris.
Oooo Sherry– I SWOON! These photos are gorgeous, as are the stories behind them! What a year you’ve had.
All photos are great, but Devil’s Throat in Argentina is so amazing, I’d like to see it!!!
Absolutely amazing images!
I would never have thought to go to Antarctica but your iceberg images and that sunset makes me think twice.
Thanks! – Glad I could put it on your radar – it’s a very special place!
These are all great, but I love the one in Berlin. Its such a fascinating city and this photo says a lot about its past. I hope to be back there in 2013.
I’m heading back there this March for the whole month – I can’t wait to explore more. If you have any tips let me know!
Awesome photos and what amazing countries to visit. I can’t imagine how difficult it was for you to choose only ONE photo from each country!
Nice shots. My favorite is of the one from the abandoned building in Berlin! Simply stunning.
Thanks Cheryl – I’m going back to Berlin and hopefully doing some more abandoned photography there!
Wow, beautiful pictures. I especially like the one with the hot air balloons and the one of the waterfall. Keep up the great work!
Great pics Sherry. I particularly like the Camino one. So atmospheric. Continued success for 2013.
These are beautiful pictures. The Devil’s Throat in Argentina and the morning sky above Turkey is simply breathtaking. It is good to realize that we have these wonders in the world. Want to travel more!
